We are all pot smokers now.
Doc
FOX fully unfurls the Dirty F'n Hippie™ meme
"The implication here is that a lot of pot smokers are coming to town."
"To all of the Democrats who are going ..." began Fox host Steve Doocy. "And, this is also news to all the Republicans going to their convention in St. Paul. Don't take your pot. Don't take your pot to the DNC."
The unconditional monetary love here at this site scares me.
Let it be known that your "friends of the left" include me and many others who are critical of his decisions as of late.
Would you like to continue?
I found this today.
Apparently it has been going around the internets so I thought I would post it.
Very beautiful.
Why did you make me black Lord?...

This is a review of James Gustave Speth's Bridge at the Edge of the World, intended as a supplement to the short review given of this book in the Monthly Review. Speth is a prominent environmentalist who has worked with the Democratic Presidential administrations of Bill Clinton and Jimmy Carter. His words, then, deserve our attention for their connections to political effectiveness.

The biggest upset this year wasn't the Giants beating the undefeated Patriots in the Super Bowl. No, it was a freshman senator from the South Side of Chicago who beat Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton in the Democratic primary. This is my take on why she lost.
I read a book once called Nexus, by Mark Buchanan, which dealt with the implications of Small World's theory in modern society. One of the key insights of how we can go from one person to another anywhere in the world with so few steps (the famous six degrees of separation), is that our strong relationships are not the means by which this connectedness is possible.
If you know somebody, it's likely they know somebody you know. Your strongest ties are also the most insular. Everybody knows each other first or secondhand. So what does a possible connection to Kevin Bacon have to do with anything?
Everything. Because we are not in the business this election year of preaching to the choir. This election year, we need to make converts. And to understand how to do that well, we need to understand the strength of weak ties, and take our approach accordingly.
Are Americans open to choice? Based on the recent history of our county, it appears that many Americans are content with no choice. In fact, it seems that many prefer more of a dictated path forward ...a course wherein all choices have been eliminated and whereby our selected leader plots a pathway with very hard, defined edges. If we have been aggrieved, then we should strike back ...the, If you fuck with me, I'll punch you in the nose approach to all things foreign. Domestically, the choice for many is to pull in the borders, throw-out those unlike US, eat, drink and be merry with no thought to the future, our kids, our grandkids.
I found this very upsetting and was surprised it has not not been discussed more on this site (a search yielded only one other diary that I could find).
There is a flurry of news reports from the abortion debate, as the Democratic Party prepares to unveil its 2008 platform tomorrow. Much of this news is lost in the blizzard of the presidential election, the conflict between Georgia and Russia, the Olympics and the lull of summer's end. But I thought it would be worthwhile to address the topic, as the unveiling of the party platform tomorrow will certainly spark some debate. More after the jump...
I rarely post on DailyKos, and this is my first diary. It’s been a hard day for a lot of us in Arkansas, especially Chairman Gwatney’s family and those staffers that were in the HQ at the time of the shooting. I’ve spent the entire day watching the news and trying to get in touch with those that I knew who were in the building at the time of the shooting. But after being assured they were all OK I had little to offer them. I couldn’t think of much else today and felt helpless for not being able to be of any use. So I wrote this diary; in part to sift through my own feelings, but also to show that we lost more than just a good Democrat today. Bill Gwatney was good people.
The suspect has been identified as Timothy Dale Johnson of Searcy, Arkansas.
Per earlier reports, he was quoted as saying "I lost my job."
Which he did, if this is the same man....
A Workmen's Comp Claim Case dating back to 2003, and still under legal review in 2007
Rather noble mission statement from the firm that represented him, very progressive. Dem contributors.
Administrative Law judge in case relatively new and an appointee by Governor Mike Beebe, who just happens to be a Democrat and was cited as a friend of the victim.
However, something clearly did not please Mr. Johnson by the time he woke up this morning.
I have a feeling this is Google monkey territory.
A little help?
Sorry for the short start but I will add as I find more.
These people cannot stop themselves. Seriously. A guy is shot to death in his office. The nation is shocked and mourns the loss.
And what does State Republican Party Chairman Dennis Milligan say in his comments?
It is with great sadness that we have learned of the tragic death of Democrat Party Chairman Bill Gwatney.
What a bunch of small-minded neanderthals.
Of necessity a very short diary: Arkansas Democratic Chairman Bill Gwatney was shot today at the state Democratic Party headquarters in Little Rock. Gwatney was taken from the scene by ambulance. His condition is unknown. (As noted in updates below, Mr. Gwatney is now confirmed dead).
Police gave chase to a suspect apparently fleeing the scene, and there are reports they shot the suspect. The suspect's identity and condition are unknown. (As noted in the updates below, the suspected shooter is now also confirmed dead).
Democratic nominee Senator Barack Obama on the shooting: "I was shocked and saddened to hear about the tragedy in Arkansas. We're all grateful for the quick action of law enforcement and quick thinking by Chairman Gwatney's staff, and Michelle and I are keeping him and his family in our prayers."
Over 140 clergy sent a letter to presidential candidate Barack Obama urging him to return to the strong peace and social justice focus that helped him win the Democratic primaries.
If we here at the 'Kos continue to allow the Cable News to drive our conversation here, we will miss what is really happening in America.
I am a touring Live Concert Sound Engineer. When I am not on the road, I find it increasingly easy to fall into a most destructive habit....Namely, watching too much (all) of the Corporate Media's alternate reality from the mouths of Pundits. The drivel and lies that they speak I prefer to call PUNDIRT. It has a decidedly negative effect on my system. Mainly, I end up pissed off all of the time.
What's all this have to do with Susan Eisenhower?
Well, follow me below the fold to find out.
First the link:
The columnist picks up on something I think most of us who live in Florida understand, that the state Democratic Party is as dysfunctional as the national party is functional at this point. The gains here in the state lege were to someone else's credit. We are a battleground state that seems to want to buck the whole idea of a 50-statge strategy by pretending to be blue to red.
Democrats could likely add more members to the U.S. House and Senate, further cementing their control of Congress, but the Florida Democratic Party still has many problems that it is not dealing with. And that goes double for the party in Polk County.
First the state: Party leaders recently said they'd wait and try to gain more seats in the Legislature in 2010.
Hello?
